What is your favorite childhood book?

Cinderella is my favorite childhood book.  Like most young girls, I wanted to be a princess. I wanted to be Cinderella.  I still enjoy reading new and different versions of this story.

What is your secret talent?

Since my family is from Germany and my father played the accordion in a German band I was able to attended many German functions.  I am a pretty good waltz and polka dancer.

Who was your favorite teacher in Elementary School and Why?

Sister Margaret Mary was my favorite teacher.  I was a second language learner and she took me under her wings to help me learn the English language.  She instilled a love for learning in me.  I knew after that experience that I wanted to be a teacher just like her.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?

My favorite part of teaching is watching the children grow, learn and blossom throughout the year.  It warms my heart when I see a smile on a child’s face and hear them say, “I did it.”

What is your favorite subject to teach and why?

I enjoy teaching literacy.  It is a lot of fun listening to children tell their own stories, watching them write stories using their inventive spelling and then watching them begin to understand how letters and sounds are used to form words.

What is your favorite part of being a part of the Willow family?

My favorite part of being a family at Willow Elementary is that I am able to work with staff members that love what they do, having awesome teammates and meeting amazing children and families.
