Educational Approach
A culture of learning is at the forefront of everything we do at Willow Elementary. Our learning goals include:
- Highly effective teachers use proven instructional materials and strategies in every classroom.
- All students have opportunities to catch up and/or extend their learning.
- Parents have online access to their child’s progress and tools to support learning at home.
- Students participate in an extended school day, providing them with additional learning opportunities.
WILLOW COMMITMENT TO REENVISIONED EDUCATION
In alignment with the DPS 21-22 Transition Priorities, at Willow Elementary we are committed to ensuring that our students engage in learning that provides them with opportunities to learn about themselves and the world around them. As a part of these learning experiences our children will learn about people from different backgrounds, lived experiences, and identities. We hold, as a core belief, that students and people are not controversial. We believe that students should see themselves and their families reflected in the curriculum. This learning is a part of what they do each day in reading, writing, mathematics, humanities, science and social studies. These learning experiences are not stand alone events, instead this learning is fully integrated into all that they learn each day. Knowing that the learning process is a partnership between home and school, we are committed to supporting families with negotiating these conversations at home.
