Spanish

Willow Elementary believes in education with a worldwide vision. Hispanics are the largest and fastest-growing minority in the United States. The majority are Spanish speakers. By learning Spanish, children will be better able to communicate with Spanish speakers here in the U.S. and in 21 other countries. The ability to speak Spanish greatly enhances the ability to get a better job and remain competitive in a multicultural society.

With this in mind, Willow offers Spanish instruction as part of the Core Curriculum for all elementary students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

Spanish classes are held 1-2 times per week for 45 minutes. During this time, students learn the language using the Natural Approach and Total Physical Response methods, updated technology resources for beginners and fun activities to engage students with the Spanish language.

Students who already speak Spanish receive differentiated instruction according to their ability to read, write and speak fluently.
