What is your favorite childhood book?

As a child I didn’t have a favorite book but I had favorite authors. I loved comics by Bill Keane—Family Circus (I still do). I could read any Judy Blume book for hours — I loved them all.

What is your secret talent?

Dance; I love to dance and I am currently on two dance teams.

Who was your favorite teacher in Elementary School and why?

My 4th grade teacher Ms. Buckingham. She was the first teacher I felt genuinely cared for me, not only as a student, but as a person.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?

Making relationships with kids beyond academics- getting to know them as individuals and celebrating their uniqueness. I love seeing them persevere and not give up through something they academically once found difficult.

What is your favorite subject to teach and why?

I have many years’ experience in various areas and grades. Although I was a literacy facilitator and it is my specialty, I enjoy teaching math in a way that kids really understand it and get excited about it. I love teaching math because I incorporate chants, raps and rhythms to instruction, as well as let kids present material and their problem solving skills.

What do you love most about being a member of the Willow family?

I love the forward way of thinking at Willow, the diverse community and the way the whole child is embraced.
