What is your favorite childhood book?

My two favorite childhood books are A Bad Case of the Stripes and Chrysanthemum. My mom has been an Early Childhood educator for many years (even before I was born) so we would spend a lot of time reading together and exploring at the Cincinnati Public Library.

What is your secret talent?

My secret talent is that I can remember the lyrics to songs after only listening to them a couple of times. Some of my friends even call me a human jukebox because I can remember the words to almost any popular song.

Who was your favorite teacher in Elementary School and Why?

My favorite teacher in Elementary School was Mrs. Combs in second grade. She was a great teacher because she really took the time to get to know her students and their families and always made us feel like she was happy that we were in her classroom.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?

My favorite thing about teaching is building relationships with students and making school a fun place to be. I take pride in creating a classroom community where students feel comfortable, safe, and loved. There is nothing better than students moving on to other grades and still stopping by to say hello because of the impact you had on them.

What is your favorite subject to teach and why?

My favorite subject to teach is reading. It is amazing to be able to see students learn to love reading, how it allows them to gain knowledge, and that they can do it even just for fun! I love being able to try different reading strategies with students to see which benefits them most and see how much they grow over the year.
